TYLER, TX (04.27.17) - The No. 12-ranked UT Dallas softball team extended its winning streak to 13 straight games Thursday morning with a 5-0 win over Concordia Texas in the opening round of the 2017 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament, held at Suddenlink Field on the campus of Texas-Tyler.

Third-seeded Comets (33-8) continue the best season in program history later Thursday when they meet No. 2-seed East Texas Baptist at 4 p.m. Sixth-seeded CTX (19-22) next play in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Friday.
Lauren McLeod (17-1) dealt in Thursday's victory, holding Concordia Texas to just four hits in a complete-game shutout. McLeod struck out four with one walk.
UTD gave McLeod all the offense she needed in the 1st inning, plating four two-out runs on five hits to take early control of the contest. With runners on the corners,
Jessica Vlasek started the scoring with an infield single, bringing home
Brittany Perkins.
Stefanie Polderman then plated
Samantha Halliburton with a single up the middle and
Kendall Moore added a two-run single, scoring both Vlasek and Polderman.
After four scoreless frames, the Comets added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on a sacrifice fly by
Hope Griffith, scoring
Heather Gilbert.
UTD collected eight hits off of Tornado starter Shelby Burrus with Moore recording the only mutli-hit performance, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
