JACKSON, MS (09.15.17) - The No. 13 UT Dallas volleyball team picked up its first American Southwest Conference win of the season Friday night with a 3-0 road win over Belhaven.
Coming off their first regular-season conference loss since 2014, the Comets rebounded with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-19, win over the host Blazers.
UTD got off to a quick start, hitting .324 as a team as the Comets rolled over Belhaven in the opening stanza, but cooled off as the match carried on. The Comets finished the match with a team .162 hitting percentage, but relied on nine blocks and 16.0 digs per set to hold on for the sweep.
KEY PLAYERS:
Sydney Riordan led the Comet offense eight kills while
Alana Geymer and
Lauren Schilling six kills in a balanced attack. Schilling also had six blocks in the win, four of which were solo. Libero
Briana Tully finished with 17 digs (5.7 per set) while
Caroline Shecterle had 22 assists (7.3 per set).
