RICHARDSON, TX (09.02.17) - The No. 8-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team closed out the Pacific Coast Classic Saturday with a split, improving to 2-2 after the opening weekend of the season.

The Comets kicked off Saturday with a thrilling 3-1 win over Wisconsin-Eau Claire before closing their California trip with a 3-0 loss to No. 7-ranked Claremont-Mudd Scripps. UTD will return to action next weekend at the Dakotas Patriot Classic, hosted by Texas-Tyler.

UTD opened its second day on the West coast with a four-set win over Wisconsin-Eau Claire that included one of the longest sets in program history. After dropping the opening game 25-21, the Comets responded with a 25-21 win of their own to even the match, 1-1. UTD then battled the Bluegolds for a 37-35 win in the third set before sealing the victory with a 25-16 fourth-set victory to seal the win.

Madeleine McCall led three Comets in double-digit kills with 16 put-aways and a .326 hitting percentage. Emma Wallbrown added 14 kills while Lauren Schilling had 11 kills and a team-high six blocks.

The Comets would close the event with a three-set loss to perennial national power C-M-S, falling to the Athenas, 25-15, 25-11, 25-18.
