KERRVILLE, TX (09.21.17) - On the eve of the first American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament of the season, the No. 16-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team earned a 3-0 win at LeTourneau Thursday for the Comets' third straight sweep.
The Comets struggled early in the match, holding off host LETU, 26-24, in the opening set, but bounced back for a 25-14 win in the second stanza to take a 2-0 lead. UTD would cap the sweep with a 25-21 victory in the third set.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
UT Dallas hit just .189 as a team on the night, but made up for the lack off hitting efficiency with eight blocks and four service aces. The Comets picked up their third consecutive sweep and fourth 3-0 win of the season.
KEY PLAYERS:
Sydney Riordan led the Comets with 11 kills, while adding 10 digs and three blocks.
Emma Wallbrown and
Lauren Schilling each contributed eight kills. Schilling finished with a match-high six blocks while
Alana Geymer had four blocks.
UP NEXT:
The Comets (9-3, 3-1 ASC) open the ASC Crossover Tournament in Longview Friday with a pair of matches against West Division foes. UTD will square off with Sul Ross State at 3 p.m. before meeting McMurry at 8 p.m. The Comets will close the trip with a 12:30 p.m. match Saturday against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
