ABILENE, TX (10.11.18) - Sophomore
Donny Smith scored twice within 40 seconds late in the second half to break open a scoreless contest en route to a 3-0 road win by the UT Dallas men's soccer team over McMurry Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.
With the win, the Comets improved to 8-1-1 overall and 7-0 in the ASC, picking up their sixth consecutive victory. UTD, which locked a ninth-straight berth into the ASC Tournament with Thursday night's win, will look to continue it's winning streak Saturday night when the Comets remain in Abilene for a 7:30 p.m. meeting with Hardin-Simmons.
Smith opened the scoring at the 71:45 mark with his fifth tally of the season and added a second score at the 72:25 mark to give the Comets a 2-0 lead after playing the majority of the game to a stalemate. Freshman
Zach Till added his first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute to add insurance for the Comets.
The Comets finished the win with 15 shots, eight on frame, with Jesse Ardilla, who assisted Smith's second goal of the night, leading the pack with four. Smith took just three shots.

Chase Therrien recorded his third straight shutout since taking over the Comets' starting role, making five saves. The Comet defense limited McMurry (3-6-3, 2-4-1 ASC) to 10 shots, five on goal.

- After more than 70 scoreless minutes, Smith opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season in the 72nd minute.
