MARSHALL, TX (10.02.18) - The UT Dallas volleyball team rolled off its third straight victory Tuesday night as the Comets earned a 3-0 road win over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets improved to 12-6 overall and 7-1 against ASC competition and will next take a break from league play Friday night with a road match at regional foe Southwestern. Match time is 7 p.m. in Georgetown.
Sydney Riordan continued to spark the Comet offense, ending Tuesday's contest with a match-high 14 kills and a .452 hitting percentage.
Jillian Via added 10 kills and a team-best 16 digs while
Allison Owen had seven kills.
UTD finished the night hitting .270 as a team with nine total blocks and averaged better than 20 digs per set in the sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Via led the Comets in the opening set as she collected four kills and three digs in a 25-19 win over the host Tigers. Riordan and Owen each added three kills as UTD hit .312.
- The Comets would tally 25 digs in the second set as they held off ETBU for a 25-18 victory to snag a 2-0 match lead. Riordan added six kills, four digs and a pair of blocks as the Comets hit .326 in the set.
- UTD added another 25 digs while slipping off offensively in a 25-18 win in the third set to complete the win. Riordan had five kills and Via added three kills as the Comets hit just .191 as a team.
