Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comet Men Handed First ASC Loss In 2-1 Defeat to ETBU

BOSSIER CITY, LA (10.26.18) - In a game that was delayed one day due to field conditions and moved to a new location, the UT Dallas men's soccer team had its eight-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss to East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference play.

With the on-campus field at ETBU unplayable due to continue rain across east Texas, Thursday's meeting between the two ASC foes was moved across state lines to Freedom Fields in Bossier City, La.

After their first ASC loss of the season, the Comets dropped to 10-2-2 overall and 8-1-1 in conference play. UTD will wrap up the regular season Saturday night with a road game at LeTourneau. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in Longview.

The Comets opened the scoring in the 14th minute when sophomore Merek Byckovski recorded his first collegiate goal with a header off a set piece for the Comets. Byckovski's header found the back of the net after a entry pass from teammate Brad Rivenes.

UTD would hold a 1-0 at the break after holding the Tigers without a shot over the first 45 minutes of play. ETBU would not muster a shot until the 72nd minute before knotting the game in the 78th with a header by Travis Atkinson off a Tiger header.

With the game seemingly headed to overtime, the host Tigers added a second goal in the 90th minute when Silas Sangano received a pass from the right and his strike found goal from 15 yards out.

The Comets finished the match with just six shots, four on goal, with Jovi Munoz and Jordan Henderson each taking two shots. UTD keeper Chase Therrien made two saves.
