Comets Rally For 2-1 Win Over LETU To Close Regular Season

LONGVIEW, TX (10.27.18) - It took the final game of the regular season, but the UT Dallas men's soccer locked up the American Southwest Conference regular-season title outright Saturday night with a 2-1 road win over LeTourneau.

Jordan Henderson netted the game winner in the 71st minute, finding the back of the net after entry header from teammate Jesse Ardila.

The Comets closed out the regular season with a 11-2-2 overall record and all alone atop the ASC standings at 9-1-1 for 28 points. UTD will play host to the 2018 ASC Tournament and will open the event Tuesday at 8 p.m. when the Comets face No. 8-seeded Hardin-Simmons at the UTD Soccer Field. The ASC semifinals are set for 5 and 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, with the league title game played at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.

UTD opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Merek Byckovski scored for the second straight game, receiving a pass from teammate Brian Rahmoune and heading the ball past LETU keeper C.J. Leyva. The host Yellow Jackets knotted the game, however not two minutes later on a Comet own goal.

The Comets finished the match with nie shots, four on goal, with Henderson leading the pack with three shots. LETU took just six shots, with five of them on frame. UTD keeper Chase Therrien made four saves.
