SAN ANTONIO, TX (11.25.18) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team rolled off its fourth straight win Sunday afternoon as the Comets rolled to a 78-64 road win over Trinity to close out the 2018 Leslie Robinson Classic.
The Comets improved to 5-1 overall with Sunday's victory and will return to American Southwest Conference play Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. road game at Sul Ross State. UTD is 1-0 in league play already this season, earning a 72-71 road win over Hardin-Simmons in the Comets' ASC opener this past Wednesday.
Dimitrius Underwood led four Comets in double figures as he recorded his third-straight and fourth overall 'double-double' of the season, finishing the win with 20 points and 10 rebounds, both game highs, while adding six assists and three steals.
Jalen Weber and
Michael Forster each finished with 13 points while
Xavier Ferrell had 10 points.
The Comets got back-to-back three-pointers from Weber and Forster early in the opening half and never gave up the lead as they stormed out to a 45-27 lead at intermission. UTD hit six three-pointers in the first half and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line, while forcing 12 Tiger turnovers before the break.
Less than a minute into the second half, the Comets snagged their first 20-point lead of the afternoon when Ferrell's trey lifted UTD to a 48-27 advantage with 19:11 left to play. The Comets widened their lead to as many as 29 points midway through the second half before settling for the 14-point victory.
UTD finished the game shooting 43.1 percent (25-of-58) as a team, connecting on 10-of-28 three-pointers (35.7%), while making 18-of-23 free throws (78.3%).
