BELTON, TX (04.14.18) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team needed little time to dispatch Mary Hardin-Baylor, 9-0, in American Southwest Conference West Division play for the Comets' six straight victory.
The Comets (7-1, 4-0 ASC West) will battle for a seventh consecutive win Sunday afternoon with a 2 p.m. match at Concordia Texas in another ASC West contest.
Ashwin Vaithianathan and Eric Chan teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles,
Mario Jelev and
Giovanni Zamboni earned an 8-5 win at No. 2, and
Alberto Hernandez and
Zach Tavallaee picked up an 8-5 win at No. 3 to complete the Comets' doubles sweep of UMHB.
Jelev was a 6-4, 7-5, winner at No.1 singles over UMHB's Cole Weiss, while Hernandez picked up a 6-2, 6-0, win over Alex Mackellar at No. 2.
Zamboni (No. 3, 6-4, 7-5), Vaithianathan (No. 4, 6-4, 6-1), Chen (No. 5, 6-1, 2-1 retired) and
Ryan Morton (No. 6, 6-0, 7-5) also earned straight set victories.
