CLAREMONT, CALIF. (09.14.18) - After dropping the opening stanza, the UT Dallas volleyball team turned the tables on No. 15 Cal Lutheran Friday afternoon as the Comets came from behind for a 3-1 win over the Regals to open the NCAA Division III East-West Challenge, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

After picking up their second win over a nationally ranked opponent this season, the Comets (6-2) will have two more tough tests before returning home as they will face No.3 C-M-S at 12 p.m. (Central) and No. 6 Emory at 2:15 p.m. (Central) on Saturday.
Jillian Via continued to shine for the Comets this season, collecting a match-high 16 kills along with 12 digs and five aces in Friday's victory. Via finished the match with a .195 attack percentage.
Lauren Schilling added 15 kills and a pair blocks while
Alyssa Porter had six kills and two blocks of her own.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Regals opened the match with a 25-21 victory, hitting .351 as a team. Via had seven kills in the opening set, but the Comets could not overcome seven attack errors.
- UTD responded with a 25-18 win in the second set, despite hitting just .089 as a team. Schilling had four kills and first block as the Comets evened the match.
- The Comets hit .243 as a squad in the third set en route to a 25-21 victory, collecting five kill each from Via and Schilling.
- Via had three aces and the Comets hit .292 as a team in the fourth and decisive set as UTD dominated the Regals, 25-12, to end the match.
