BROWNWOOD, TX (09.29.18) - Battling oncoming darkness and a determined Howard Payne squad, the UT Dallas men's soccer team finally converted on a scoring chance early in the second overtime period to claim a 1-0 American Southwest Converence win over the Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore transfer Donny Smith punched in a goal in the 104th minute off a pass from Alfredo Kaegi to keep the Comets' (5-2-1 overall) ASC record unblemished at 4-0. Kaegi had taken the ball to the end line on a counter attack before making the pass to Smith.

The late goal salvaged an important win and ended a scare for the Comets, who will face 4-1 Mary Hardin-Baylor at home next Thursday at 7:30 pm. The loss was HPU's second straight in overtime and dropped the Jackets' record to 3-4 and 2-2 in ASC play. The game started late after the UTD women's team experienced travel issues and did not start  their game until almost 3 pm.

UTD pummeled the HPU net with 28 shots, but only managed six on goal. The Jackets, meanwhile, took 11 shots, but UTD keeper Max Dier was on task with four saves. Kaegi led UTD with six shots while Oliver Hamby and Jesse Ardila had four each.
