Comets Claim 7th in a Row After 89-69 Win at Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, AR (01.19.19) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven consecutive games Saturday afternoon as the Comets pulled away from Ozarks, 89-69, in American Southwest Conference East Division play.

The Comets improved to 14-3 on the season after Saturday's win and are now 7-2 in ASC play, now sitting alone atop the league's East Division. UTD will look for an eighth straight win Thursday when the Comets visit Belhaven. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.

Leading 38-35 at the break, the Comets shot better than 56 percent as a team over the 20 minutes to secure their seventh 20-point victory of the season. After hitting just 1-of-4 three-pointers before halftime, UTD connected on 6-of-11 long shots in the second half to pull away.

After holding a lead for most of the opening half, the host Eagles took their first advantage with just under four minutes before the break, 33-32, on a Jacobe Davis three-pointer. The Comets answered with a jumper from Dimitrius Underwood less than minute later and never trailed again.

The Comets regained a double-digit cushion before first media timeout of the second half when Jalen Weber drained a trey to push UTD to a 51-39 lead. UTD then extended its lead to as many as 24 points midway through the half before settling for the 20-point win.

Underwood paced the Comes with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding 11 rebounds for his league-leading eighth 'double-double' of the season. Forster added 17 points and a career-high 10 boards for his first collegiate 'double-double'.  Weber finished with 14 points and a game-high seven assists while Hans Burwitz had 13 points.

The Comets closed the game shooting 50.7 percent (34-of-67) from the floor as a team, making 7-of-15 three-pointers (46.7%), while shooting 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from free-throw line.
