RICHARDSON, TX (10.26.19) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team wrapped up the home portion of the regular season Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 home win over Louisiana College in American Southwest Conference play.
Sophomore
Rana Hussein scored twice and added an assist as the Comets (now 14-2-2, 6-2-2 ASC) guaranteed themselves a first-round home in next month's ASC Tournament. UTD currently sits in third place in the ASC standings with one game left to play. The Comets will visit Ozarks at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Clarksville, Ark., in one final warm-up before the postseason.
Senior
Stephanie White opened the scoring in the 15th minute with her sixth goal of the season, assisted by Hussein. Hussein then picked up her first tally of the afternoon in the 28th minute, assisted by
Sofia Munoz.
Ashlyn Sims would then give UTD a 3-0 halftime lead with a goal in the 39th minute, assisted by
Cate Jenkins.
Munoz added goal just 1:06 into the second half, assisted by White, before Hussein picked up her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 61st minute.
Haley Ziomek completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, assisted by
Gillian Robles.
The Comets closed the shutout setting seasons highs for both shots (39) and shots on goal (25). Hussein and senior
Bailee Davis each led the way with seven shots apiece while Munoz took five shots. The Wildcats (now 1-15-1, 0-10 ASC) managed just two shots, one on target.
