RICHARDSON, TX (10.04.19) - The UT Dallas volleyball team kept its perfect American Southwest Conference intact Friday night as the Comets rolled to a 3-0 home win over Louisiana College.
The Comets (13-3, 7-0 ASC) extended their winning streak to 10 straight matches with the quick three-set victory and will now take a week off before returning to floor.
Jillian Via sparked the Comets with a match-high 10 kills, adding six digs and three aces on the night. A quartet of UTD players -
Brynne Blackmar,
Allison Owen,
Alyssa Porter and
Lauren Schilling - each contributed five kills in a balanced attack. Libero
Abby Jones matched Via's team-best with six digs while UTD finished with four total blocks.
The Comets hit .243 in the opening set, en route to a 25-17 win over LC. Owen and Via each had five kills in the set while Via started the match with two of her three aces. UTD heated up in the second set, hitting .348 as a team, with VIa and Porter leading teh way with three kills in a 25-16 win.
Catherine Croft then took over the final set with three kills in a lop-sided 25-13 UTD victory, hitting .258 as a squad.
UTD returns to action next Friday, Oct. 11, when the Comets host both Belhaven and Centenary in a tri-match, starting at 3 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
