TUSCON, AZ (02.10.19) - The UT Dallas baseball team wrapped up its season-opening trip to Arizona Sunday afternoon with a 16-4 loss to La Verne in the Cactus Classic.
The Comets (1-3) return to action next weekend with they travel to Austin for games against Redlands and host Concordia Texas.
Coming off its first win of the season, UTD fell behind the Leopards (3-1) early as La Verne plated two runs in the 1st and five more in the 2nd to grab a 7-1 lead. The Comets picked up a run in bottom of the 1st with an RBI single by
Patch Healy, scoring
Austin Adams.
The Leopards tacked on four more runs in the 5th to extend their lead to 11-1 before UTD plated three runs in the 6th frame. The Comets got two of those runs on a homer by
Thomas Craig, his second of the weekend, and a third run on a
Matt Mikusek.
ULV added two more run sin the 7th and three final runs in the 8th.
Healy finished the game 2-for-3 while Mikusek was 2-for-4.
