AUSTIN, TX (02.15.19) - All nine starters picked up at least one hit as the UT Dallas baseball team rolled to a 21-11 win over Redlands Friday afternoon to open the Concordia Classic at Tornado Field.
The Comets improved to 2-3 with the lop-sided victory and will play two more games Saturday before returning home. UTD will face host Concordia Texas at 11 a.m. before facing Redlands against before returning home.
UTD used a 12-run 6th inning to break open up a back-and-forth ballgame. The two teams battled through three lead changes over the first frames before the Comets' 6th inning explosion where UTD needed just five hits to send 18 batters to the plate. The Comets drew seven walks in the inning and were hit by pitch twice.
Newcomer
Jacob Perry led the 23-hit barrage with a 5-for-6 performance, matching a program single-game hit record. He picked up four RBI and scored two runs from the No. 9 hole in the UTD batting order. Six other Comets had multi-hit games with three players finishing with three hits each.The Comets finished with seven doubles and had 18 RBI as a team.
