RICHARDSON, TX (02.16.19) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team quickly dispatched East Texas Baptist, 8-1, Saturday afternoon to open the Comets' spring season.
The Comets (1-0) will continue opening weekend Sunday with a 1 p.m. road match at LeTourneau.
UTD sailed through doubles play with there victories before taking five of six singles contests for the lop-sided win. The duo of
Frida Muedsam and
Stephanie Joseph was the first to earn doubles victory against the Tigers, claiming an 8-4 win at No. 2. Top-flighted
Kathy Joseph and
Sindhu Ravula then earned an 8-3 win before the tandem of Sumvruta Iyenga and
Svaksha Iyengar completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win.
Stephanie Joseph then kicked off singles play with a clean 6-0, 6-0, win over ETBU's Olivia Parmelly at No. 5 before Muesdam locked up the team victory with a 6-0, 6-2, win over Tess Willis at No. 2.
Kathy Joseph (No. 1, 6-1, 6-0),
Sumvruta Iyengar (No. 2, 6-0, 6-4) and
Adrienne Large (No. 6, 6-2, 6-3) also claimed straight-set wins in singles action.
