HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (03.20.19) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team continued its Spring Break road trip with a 9-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon.

The Comets (now 5-0) will wrap up its east coast trip Friday with a 9 a.m. (Central) match with Ramapo before heading home.

UTD sailed through doubles play with three quick victories before taking all six singles matches in straight sets. The duo of Brandon Giordonelli and Eric Chen opened the match with an 8-2 at No. 3 before No. 1 tandem of Mario Jelev and Giovanni Zamboni added an 8-4 win shortly afternoon. The Comets completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3 by Ashwin Vaithianathan and Haydn Steffes.

In singles play, Zamboni was the first to wrap up his first, claiming at 6-1, 6-2, win at No. 2. Steffes then clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-1, win at No. 5 singles. Vaithianathan (No. 3, 7-5, 5-2), Jed De Luna (No. 6, 6-2, 6-3), Chen (No. 5, 6-4, 6-0) and Jelev (No. 1, 6-2, 7-6) each added straight-set wins to complete the 9-0 victory.
