MARSHALL, TX (09.13.19) - The UT Dallas volleyball squad kicked off American Southwest Conference East Division play Friday night with a 3-0 road win over East Texas Baptist.

The Comets (6-3, 1-0 ASC) hit .292 as a team en route to the squad's third consecutive victory. Jillian Via led UTD with 11 kills while adding four digs and a service ace in the quick victory. Lauren Schilling added eight kills while Alyssa Porter finished with seven kills.

Via sparked UTD with four kills in the opening set as the Comets handled ETBU, 25-20. The Comets hit .20 as a squad in the set, collecting 15 kills. 

Allison Owen took control in the second set as she finished with four kills in another 25-20 win to take a 2-0 lead over the host Tigers. The Comets hit .348 with Via adding three kills.

Via again led the Comets in the third set with four kills as UTD completed the sweep with a lop-sided 25-12 win. Schilling had three kills as the Comets hit .393 as a team.

UTD returns to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. road match at Belhaven in another ASC East contest.
