RICHARDSON, TX (09.15.19) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team rolled off its sixth straight win to open the season Sunday night as the Comets shut out Pfeiffer, 2-0, in non-conference play.
The Comets (now 6-0) got a first-half goal from junior
Keely Fillman early in the contest and added a second-half tally from sophomore
Rana Hussein to complete the scoring. UTD limited the guest Falcons (now 3-2) to just three shots on the night, none of which were on frame.
In the ninth minute, Fillman laced a shot from outside the box off the crossbar but rebounded off the Pfeiffer keeper into the net for the opening score of the match. Hussein took a deep ball that was sent by UTD keeper
Morgan Sherman and redirected at midfield by teammate
Stephanie White and shot over the surprised Falcon keeper in the 50th minute to complete the scoring. Fillman and Hussein both currently leads the Comets with three goals.
The Comets finished the shutout with 20 shots, 11 on target, with White leading the charge with four shots of her own. Fillman, Hussein and
Sofia Munoz each managed three shots.
UTD hits the road for next weekend for a single game as the Comets visit Rhodes on Saturday, Sept. 21. Game time is 4:30 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
