ALPINE, TX (09.28.19) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team failed to come out victorious for the first time this season, settling for a 0-0 scoreless tie in double overtime at Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon.
The tie dropped the Comets' season mark to  8-0-1, and put UTD at 1-0-1 in American Southwest Conference play. The Lady Lobos finished with third third tie of the season and are now 1-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in ASC play.
The Comets dominated possession in the first half of play and put up a 12-7 shot advantage in the second period, but could not muster a goal. In overtime, the Lady Lobos took to the offensive, outshooting UTD, 8-4. But neither team could get a ball past SRSU keeper Alitzel Ybarra, who made nine saves;Â or UTD's
Morgan Sherman, who stopped 12 shots on goal.
UTD's
Keely Fillman was the most frustrated, as she put four of five shots on net, while
Sofia Munoz had six shots, but only one on frame.
The match marked the fifth shutout of the season for the Comets.
UTD must regroup before next Thursday when ASC co-leader Mary Hardin-Baylor (4-4-1, 2-0 ASC) comes to town. UTD also hosts Concordia Texas next Saturday afternoon.Â
