Kelley Skinner scored a career-high 25 points to spark the Comets to a 76-53 road win over Ozarks Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets improved to 15-4 overall with Saturday's win and remain atop the ASC's East Division with a 9-1 league mark with just six games left in the regular season. UTD is looking to lock up its fourth consecutive ASC East crown later this month.
Skinner, a native of Katy, hit 9-of-14 shots with five three-pointers for her game-high 25 points. She added five rebounds, two assists and a steal as she led the Comets to sixth on consecutive victory.
The Comets set the tone early with a 21-8 opening period and never looked back as they completed the season sweep of Ozarks. UTD held a 34-20 lead at the break and scored more than 20 points in each of the final two frames to close out the squad's sixth win by 20 or more points this season.
Victoria Pena finished with 13 points as the only other Comet in double figures, adding six rebounds and a game-high five assists.
Natalie Miller snagged a game-best seven rebounds.
The Comets shot 46.4 percent from the field as a team, hitting 10-of-26 three-pointers, and went 14-of-24 from the foul line.Â
After three straight road games, UTD will return home Thursday when the Comets host LeTourneau in ASC East play. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
