CLARKSVILLE, AR (02.28.20) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in American Southwest Conference East Division play Friday with a 7-2 road win over Ozarks.
The Comets improved to 2-2 overall and will return to the courts next Friday, March 6, when they host McMurry in Abilene at the UTD Tennis Courts.
UTD took a 2-1 lead after doubles action then collected five straight-set singles wins to seal the win over the host the Eagles. Top-flighted duo
Ashwin Vaithianathan and
Haydn Steffes battled Ozarks' Angelo Ito Tost/Jonah Martinez to an 8-7 victory while
Ritvik Ganesan and
Mythreyan Ganesh earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Steffes (No. 2, 6-2, 6-4), Ganesan (No. 3, 6-3, 6-1),
John Edwards (No. 4, 6-3, 6-1),
Nick Boquet (No. 5, 6-0, 6-4) and Ganesh (No. 6, 6-0, 6-0) all won.
