RICHARDSON, TX (03.06.20) - The UT Dallas men's tennis team picked up its second straight victory as the Comets handled McMurry, 7-2, Friday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The Comets (now 2-2) took 2-of-3 doubles matches before completing the team victory with five singles wins. UTD will hit the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. match at Austin College in Sherman.
The tandem of
John Edwards and
Mythreyan Ganesh got things started with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles before partners
Ashwin Vaithianathan and
Nick Boquet earned an 8-3 win at No. 3 to give the Comets a 2-1 lead heading to singles play.
Ritvik, the reigning American Southwest Confernce East Division Player of the Week, was the first singles player to finish his match, claiming a brisk, 6-0, 6-0, win over McMurry's Zach Miller at No. 3. Edwards followed soon after with a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 4, to lift UTD to a 4-1 lead. Ganesh had the deciding match, downing Trey Fambrough, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.
Vaithianathan (No. 2, 6-3, 7-5) and Boquet (No. 5, 6-2, 7-5) each added straight-set singles victories.
