JACKSON, MS (01.23.21) - A 61-point second half propelled the UT Dallas men's basketball team to a 103-83 road win over Belhaven Saturday afternoon as the Comets picked up their first American Southwest Conference victory of the season.

Hunter Stevens scored 19 of his career-high 25 points in the second half as the Comets (now 3-1, 1-1 ASC) turned a one-point halftime lead into a 20-point victory, topping the century mark for the first time since last February. Stevens was one of five Comets to reach double figures as they squad bounced back from its first loss of the season Thursday night.
After trading near double-digit leads with the host Blazers in the opening half, UTD would secure a slim 42-41 advantage at intermission. Belhaven (now 3-3, 2-2 ASC) made a run early in the second half and even snagged a six-point lead, 53-47, at the 15:55 mark of the second half. The Comets then used an 11-point run over the next two minutes to turn the tables and take control of the contest.
The Comets shot an impressive 55.8 percent (24-of-43) from the field over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win. Stevens was 7-for-8 from the floor in the second half, hitting a pair of three-pointers.
Stevens closed the game 10-for-13 while adding a game-high six assists and three rebounds.
Michael Forster had 23 points, hitting 4-of-8 treys, while freshman
Kameron Pruitt came off the bench for 17 points and a game-best 13 rebounds, both season highs, for his first collegiate 'double-double'.
Kelden Pruitt added 11 points and
Dimitrius Underwood had 10 points to round out the Comets in double digits.
The Comets return to action Thursday when they host Howard Payne in an another ASC contest. Tip-off is 6 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
