LONGVIEW, TX (10.16.21) - After dropping the opening set, the UT Dallas volleyball team regrouped and rallied for a 3-1 road win over LeTourneau Saturday afternoon in ASC play.

Riding a season-long four-match winning streak, the Comets improved to 11-8 overall and remain in second place in the ASC standings with a 9-3 league mark with six matches left in the regular season. UTD will return home Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. match against Belhaven.

The Comets dropped the opening set Saturday, 25-18, before bouncing back with wins of 25-21, 25-22, 25-15, to complete the four-set win.

Brynne Blackmar and Catherine Croft each finished with a team-best 11 kills as the Comets hit just .147 as a team in the match. Gabi Sommerfield added nine kills along with a team-high four blocks. Libero Rachel Baxter corralled 18 digs while setter Sydney Fitt had 25 assists and 14 digs.

The Comets were held to a .026 team hitting percentage in the opening set to find themselves in an early hole to host LETU (13-7, 8-5 ASC). Croft helped spark UTD back into the match with four kills in the second set to even the match. In the third set, Somerfield had six of her nine kills while Blackmar added five kills as the Comets took control of the contest. Croft then helped UTD slam the door with five kills in the fourth set.
