RICHARDSON, TX (10.02.21) - The UT Dallas volleyball team improved to 6-3 in ASC play Saturday afternoon after a quick 3-0 victory over McMurry at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets are now 8-8 overall after winning three of their last four matches and will look to continue their hot hand next weekend with a pair of ASC road matches. UTD will next play Friday night at Belhaven before visiting East Texas Baptist Saturday afternoon. The Comets currently sit in third place in the ASC standings, half a match behind ETBU for second.
Catherine Croft had a monster outing for the Comets, finishing with 14 kills and no errors for an impressive .636 hitting percentage in the sweep. Croft added four aces, three digs and a pair of blocks in the victory.
Allison Owen added nine kills while
Madison Ball had eight kills. The Comets hit a season-high .368 as a squad against McMurry, closing the sweep with seven service aces and six blocks.
Croft had five of her match-high 14 kills in the opening set as the Comets kicked off the match with a 25-19 win over McMurry. UTD hit .323 as a squad while limiting the guest War Hawks to .000 (7 kills, 7 errors). Owen would spark the Comets with five kills in the second set, with Croft and Ball each added four kills in a 25-23 UTD victory. Croft then had five kills in a brisk 25-9 win by the Comets in the third set to complete the sweep.
Sydney Fitt led the Comets with 19 assists while
Mikayla Cho finished with 12 assists. Libero
Rachel Baxter collected a match-high 12 digs.
