RICHARDSON, TX (10.29.21) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season Friday night with a 3-0 home win over Ozarks, celebrating Senior Night at the UTD Soccer Field.
Sierra Foster scored twice after
Sofia Munoz gave the Comets (10-7, 4-6 ASC) the lead early in the second half. With the win over the visiting Eagles, UTD secured its 20th 10-win season over the 25-year history of the program.
After a scoreless opening half, Munoz lifted UTD to a 1-0 advantage in the 49th minute after a
Keely Fillman corner kick from the right, redirected by
Rana Hussein. Foster doubled the lead in the 75th minute with an assisted goal as she broke through the Eagle defense from the right side. Foster's second tally came in the 85th minute off a free kick from the left.
The Comets closed the night with a 28-7 shot advantage over Ozarks, collecting 14 shots on frame in the shutout. Munoz sparked the Comets with six shots, two on goal, while Foster had four shots and
Peyton Guidry and
Kate Crowe each contributed three shots. Comet keeper
Jade Press made five saves in the full 90-minute outing.
UTD will open the 2021 ASC Championship Tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m. with a quarterfinal road game at regular-season winner Hardin-Simmons in Abilene. The Comets will be making their 22ndo overall and 20th consecutive appearance in the postseason.
