RICHARDSON, TX (03.27.21) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in American Southwest Conference East Division play Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 home win over East Texas Baptist.

Starting with singles play against the Tigers, the Comets (now 5-3 overall) collected six straight-set victories to claim the team win over ETBU. Kathy Joseph and Samantha Wong each gave up only game in their short sweeps of their opponents at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, before Stephanie Joseph gave the Comets a 3-0 cushion with a 6-0, 6-2, win at No. 5.

Suzuka Nishino added a 6-1, 6-2, win at No. 3 before Rebecca Jackson sealed the team victory with a 6-2, 6-1, win at No. 4 singles. Svaksha Iyengar added a 6-1, 6-3, win at No. 6 to close singles play.

The Comets then got an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles by Kathy Joseph and Wong before adding an 8-3 win by Stephanie Joseph and Iyengar at No. 2.

UTD is back in action Friday with home matches against Louisiana College and Western New Mexico.
