RICHARDSON, TX (03.05.21) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team earned an 8-1 non-conference home win over Hardin-Simmons Friday afternoon.

The Comets (now 2-1) swept doubles play against HSU and then added five singles victories to win their second straight contest. UTD will return to action Saturday with two more home matches, opening American Southwest Conference East Division play against Ozarks at 10 a.m. The Comets will then host McMurry in a non-conference affair at 2 p.m.

Leading 3-0 after doubles action, top-flighted Kathy Joseph opened singles play with a quick 6-1, 6-0, win over HSU's Kaitlyn Hathorn. Saumya Vedula then added a 6-1, 6-2, win over HSU's Priscilla Schimming at No. 4 to ice the team victory.

Samantha Wong (No. 2), Suzuka Nishino (No. 3) and Rebecca Jackson (No. 5) also earned straight-set wins in singles.
