RICHARDSON, TX (03.06.21) - The No. 9-ranked UT Dallas volleyball remained perfect on the season Saturday night with a pair of hard-fought 3-0 home victories over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
Four of the evening's six sets ended with a margin of victory of three or fewer points.
Now 6-0 overall and in ASC East play, the Comets will continue their home stand Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m./7:00 p.m. doubleheader with Louisiana College at the UTD Activity Center.
MATCH 1 - UTD 3, LETU 0
Catherine Croft had 17 kills while hitting at a .263 clip as she sparked the Comets to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-17, win over LeTourneau to open Saturday's doubleheader.
After battling back-and-forth in a first-set victory, the Comets pulled away late in the second set to take a 2-0 lead. UTD then nearly led wire-to-wire in the third set to complete the hard-fought sweep.
Allison Owen added 10 kills while Croft led the Comets with three blocks.
Sydney Fitt finished the sweep with 29 assists and
Rachel Baxter and
Abby Jones each had 17 digs.
MATCH 2 - UTD 3, LETU 0
The Comets scored the final five points of the opening set to set the tone of the second match of the night with a 25-23 win en route to a second 3-0 win over the YellowJackets.
UTD would then erase a late three-point deficit, 22-19, before rallying for a 25-23 win in the second set to take a 2-0 lead. The Comets then hit .257 as a team in the third set to complete the sweep with a 25-18 win.
Croft and Owen each finished with 10 kills while Croft had a team-high 15 digs. Fitt had 22 assists while
Emma Sevening finished with 21 assists.
