RICHARDSON, TX (03.09.21) - The No. 9-ranked UT Dallas volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season after earning two quick sweeps of Louisiana College Tuesday night in American Southwest Conference East Division play.
The Comets will open the second half of ASC East play next Wednesday, Mar. 17, when they host Belhaven for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. UTD has yet to drop a single set through its first eight matches of the season.
MATCH 1 - UTD 3, LC 0
The Comets rolled past Louisiana College, 25-15, 25-20, 25-13, to open Tuesday's doubleheaders.
Four Comets finished with seven kills each as UTD closed the match hitting .382 as a team, compared to .106 by the Lady Wildcats.
Erin Rogers was one of the Comets with a match-high seven kills, also adding four blocks.
Sydney Fitt and
Izzy Sundquist shared the setting duties for the Comets, each collecting 18 assists. Libero
Rachel Baxter led the Comets with nine digs.
MATCH 2 - UTD 3, LC 0
The Comets' second match of the night was even quicker than the first as UTD briskly dispatched the Lady Wildcats, 25-11, 25-13, 25-17, in the nightcap.
Brynne Blackmar led the Comets with eight kills while Rogers and
Lydia Knollmeyer each finished with six kills in the short three-set match.
Izzy Sundquist led the Comets with 15 assists as UTD used three setters in the match while libero
Hannah Paine collected a match-high 11 digs forthe Comets.
The Comets hit .270 as a team in the second match of the night, compared to just .043 by Louisiana College.
