GEORGETOWN, TX (09.01.21) - The UT Dallas women's soccer opened up the 2021 fall season Wednesday night with a 2-1 non-conference road loss at Southwestern.
The Comets (0-1) fell behind host SU early with a Pirate tally in the eighth minute and would trail, 1-0, at the break in their season opener.
Keely Fillman knotted the game in the 50th minute after an unassisted goal. However, the Pirates netted the game-winner in the 63rd minute to seal the victory.
UTD finished the contest with 12 shots, five on frame, but not a single Comet player managed more than one shot on goal. The Pirates took 13 shots and finished with 10 shots on goal.
Sofia Munoz led the Comets with four shots while
Ashlynn Thomas took three shots. Comet keeper
Mariana Gonzalez made eight saves.
The Comets return to action Friday at 6 p.m. as they host Dallas in the squad's home opener at the UTD Soccer Field.
