RICHARDSON, TX (09.12.21) - The UT Dallas women's soccer tem rolled off its fourth straight victory Sunday night as the Comets blanked Pacific, 2-0, to wrap up the squad's Comet Cup at the UTD Soccer Field.
The Comets (4-1) posted its second straight shutout victory and used a pair of second-half goals to pull away from the visiting Boxers (2-1). UTD limited their guests to just three shots on the night, none of which were on frame.
After a scoreless opening half,
Sofia Munoz tallied her team-leading third goal of the season in the 48th minute as she picked up a loose ball from six-yards out and beat the Boxer keeper to the right.
Keely Fillman added an insurance goal in the 71st minute from in front of the net after a short pass from teammate
Jocelyn Boyle.
The Comets closed the win with 15 shots, five on goal, with Munoz leading the squad with four shots. Keeper
Mariana Gonzalez played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Comets and did not need to record a save.
UTD returns to action Friday at 1 p.m. with a neutral game against Schreiner in Shreveport. The Comets will then play event-host Centenary at 3 p.m. Sunday.
