SHREVEPORT, LA (09.17.21) - Five different Comets scored as the UT Dallas women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five straight games with a 5-0 win over Schreiner Friday afternoon to open a weekend classic hosted by Centenary.
The Comets (5-1) out-shot the Mountaineers, 13-4, and did not allow a shot on goal as they collected their third consecutive shutout victory.
Sierra Foster finished the match with the game-winning goal, along with three assists for UTD. The Comets return to the pitch at 3 p.m. Sunday to face host Centenary.
Foster opened the scoring in the seventh with an unassisted tally to give the Comets a quick 1-0 advantage.
Rana Hussein and
Sofia Munoz then added a pair of goals within three minutes of each other, scoring in the 31st and 33rd minute, respectively, to push the UTD lead to 3-0 at the break. Both goals were assisted by Foster.
Stephanie Ward contributed with a goal in the 66th minute, also assisted by Foster, while
Bella Granada finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 69th minute.
The Comets closed the match with nine shot on goal and took six corner kicks. Foster and Granada each led a balanced offense with two shots each.
Mariana Gonzalez and
Jade Press each played a half in goal for the Comets, neither needing to make a save.
