SHREVEPORT, LA (09.19.21) - In its final non-conference game of the season, the UT Dallas women's soccer team posted its fourth consecutive shutout victory Sunday afternoon as the Comets rolled past Centenary, 3-0.
The Comets (6-1) have now collected six straight victories after suffering a season-opening road loss and are ready to start ASC play Thursday with a 5 p.m. home game with Sul Ross State at the UTD Soccer Field.
UTD scored twice in the second half after
Josie Meeks lifted the Comets to a 1-0 advantage at the break. Meeks tallied her first goal in two seasons with the Comets in the 11th minute, assisted by
Stephanie Ward, to open the scoring. The game was later delayed twice for a total of an hour due to lightning.
Sierra Foster doubled the UTD lead in the 61st minute with her team-leading fifth goal of the season and then
Bella Granada capped the scoring with her fourth tally of the fall in the 84th minute. Both goals were unassisted.
The Comets manages just 12 shots in the victory, seven on frame, with Foster and Meeks each finishing with team-bests three shots. UTD keeper
Mariana Gonzalez played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Comets with two saves.
