RICHARDSON, TX (09.23.21) - The UT Dallas women's soccer team got off to a strong start in ASC play Thursday night with a 3-0 home win over Sul Ross State in the league openers for both programs.
The Comets (7-1, 1-0 ASC) won their seventh straight game and posted a fifth straight shutout as they got all their offense in the opening half. UTD finished the game with an 18-7 shot advantage over the visiting Lobos (1-2 ,0-1 ASC), taking 11 shots on frame. The Comet defense limited SRSU to six shots on target.
Sierra Foster opened the scoring in the third minute with her team-leading sixth tally of the fall as she scored deep from the right side over a leaping SRSU keeper.
Jocelyn Boyle added her first goal of the season in the 36th minute, assisted by
Naia Smith, and
Rana Hussein completed the scoring with her third goal of the year in the 45th minute, assisted by
Hendrikje Bodine.
The Comets dominated possession in the contest, holding the ball 64 percent of the time. UTD finished with five corner kicks.
UTD continues its league-opening weekend Saturday night as the Comets host Howard Payne. Game time is 5 p.m. at the UTD Soccer Field.
