ALPINE, TX (01.20.22) - Paris Kiser scored 18 of her career-high 28 points in the fourth quarter as the UT Dallas women's basketball team erased a late four-point deficit and claimed a 60-54 ASC road win over Sul Ross State Thursday night.
The Comets (8-3, 7-1 ASC) outscored SRSU, 24-14, in the final stanza to battle from behind and remain in second place in the ASC standings with just over a month left in the regular season. UTD will continue its four-game road swing Saturday with a 1 p.m. ASC contest at Howard Payne in Brownwood.
Kiser finished the nigh 11-of-18 from the field and added a team-best seven rebounds in the victory.
Blythe Williams came off the bench for eight points and
Kaylee Boykin finished with seven points.
Jordan Rudd led UTD with four assists.
With the Comets down 40-36 after three periods, Kiser opened the fourth with a lay up to spark a 7-0 run by the Comets turn the tables on SRSU just 90 seconds into the stanza. The Lobos would claw back within a single point on three occasions over the next five minutes before UTD pulled away late. Kiser used back-to-back buckets to push the Comet lead back to five points with just over two minutes to go and the Comets limited SRSU to just five points from that point forward.
The Comets opened the game strong, taking a 16-5 lead after the opening period. However, host SRSUÂ responded with a second-quarter surge to snag a 26-25 lead at the break. The Lobos then outscored UTD, 14-11, in the third.
Kiser was the only Comet to top double digits in the win while
Blythe Williams came off the bench for eight points and
Kaylee Boykin finished with seven points.
Jordan Rudd led UTD with four assists.
