MARSHALL, TX (01.29.22) - The UT Dallas men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon with a 69-60 ASC road loss at East Texas Baptist.
The Comets (12-5, 8-4 ASC) held a 28-25 lead at the break and widened their advantage to as many as seven points early in the second half before host ETBUÂ (10-9, 8-6 ASC) turned the tables and stole the victory. UTD rallied late and even exchanged leads with the Tigers before the home team closed the game with a late run.
Kameron Pruitt led UTD with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three rebounds and a pair of assists. With 10 points,
James Curtis was the only Comet to reach double figures as the squad had its lowest-scoring output of the season.
Hunter Stevens finished with a team-high nine rebounds and three assists.
The two squads traded leads multiple times early in a defensive opening half with the Comets pulling ahead by as many as five points late in the period.
Nick Donnelly secured UTD's three-point halftime cushion with a pair of free throws with two seconds on the clock.
The Comets widened their margin to seven points, 35-28, after a Curtis lay up with 16:55 to play before ETBU began to chip away. The Tigers would take back the lead four minutes later before the two squads traded blows midway through the second. With a slim 58-56 lead with 4:37 to play, ETBU would post an 11-1 run over the next four minutes to pull away. Curtis drained a trey with 15 seconds left to bring the deficit back to single digits.
UTD will look to bounce back Thursday night as the Comets return home for the first time in three weeks to host Concordia Texas in ASC play. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. at the UTD Activity Center.
