RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team lost its first home match of the season, falling to McMurry 16-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 in American Southwest Conference action at the UTD Activity Center Tuesday evening.
The Comets (13-5, 9-2 ASC), came out on fire, hitting a blistering .405 on 18 kills in the first set to take the opening frame. In the second game, the War Hawks (11-9, 7-6 ASC) built an early 8-3 lead and maintained at least a two-point advantage to knot the match up. Tied 21-21 in the third, the visitors from Abilene, Texas ended the game on a 4-2 rally to go up 2-1. The final frame saw 12 ties and four lead changes upt to 14-14, before McMurry pulled away with 11-5 run to end the match.
For the entire match, UTD hit .226 on 56 kills, five aces, three blocks and 79 digs. McMurry hit .227 on 49 kills, 12 aces, four blocks and 75 digs.
