UT Dallas Secures ASC Regular Season with Sweep of Concordia

RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball won the American Southwest Conference regular season title after sweeping Concordia Texas 25-10, 25-22, 25-12 at the UTD Activity Center Saturday afternoon.

It is the 15th time the Comets (15-5, 11-2 ASC) have won the conference or division regular season crown. With the first place finish, UTD will host the ASC Championship Tournament for the eighth time November 3-5. 

UTD hit a scorching .423 on 13 kills in the first set to easily top the Tornados (11-10, 7-7 ASC). Concordia led 22-19 in the second before the Comets rattled off a 6-0 run, which included kills from Madison Ball, Abby Jones and Lauren Johnson and an ace by Rachel Baxter. The home team dominated the third set, hitting .368 to finish off the visitors from Austin.

For the match, the Comets hit .264 with 37 kills, nine aces, 10 blocks and 47 digs. The Tornados hit .055 on 23 kills, three aces, two blocks and 27 digs.

UT Dallas Notes
- Senior middle blocker Karle Lynd led the Comets with eight kills and hit .615 with five blocks.
- Senior outside hitter Madison Ball had seven kills and a career-high five blocks.
- Abby Jones had seven kills and 13 digs.
- Junior setter Emma Sevening recorded 18 assists, four aces and six digs.
- Freshman middle Lauren Johnson also came up with five blocks and five kills.
- Junior libero Rachel Baxter led all players with 14 digs.

Concordia Texas Notes
- Kinsey Hashke led the Tornados with 10 kills.
- Selena Cooper had 15 assists.
- Libero Kaitlyn Ruiz added nine digs.
