UTD Takes Care of HSU in Four Sets

RICHARDSON, Texas - The American Southwest Conference-leading UT Dallas volleyball team topped Hardin-Simmons 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16 at the UTD Activity Center Tuesday night.

The Comets (16-5, 12-2 ASC) came out hitting .387 on 15 kills in the first set, but the Cowgirls (13-8, 8-7) rebounded with 17 kills of their own in the second to make it even at a game a piece. HSU led 8-7 in the third, but UTD used a 7-2 rally to take the lead for good. Up 11-10 in the final frame, the Comets ended the match on a 14-6 run.

UTD, who will host the ASC Championship Tournament November 3-5, hit .216 for the match with 43 kills, six aces, eight blocks and 58 digs. HSU hit .196 on 51 kills, four aces, six blocks and 67 digs.

UT Dallas Notes
- Senior middle blocker Karle Lynd hit .563 with 10 kills and four blocks.
- Senior outside hitter Madison Ball also had 10 kilsl go to with eight digs.
- Abby Jones added eight kills and led the Comets with 17 digs.
- Junior libero Rachel Baxter came up with 11 digs.
- Junior setter Emma Sevening recorded 21 assists, moving into seventh on the UTD career list with 954.
- Freshman right side Gabi Engels led the Comets with five blocks.

Hardin-Simmons Notes
- Aubree McCann paced the Cowgirls with 16 kills and had seven digs.
- Liz Underwood hit .308 on 13 kills.
- Ari Villanueva led all players with 18 digs.
- Ali Meyer recorded 24 assists.

UTD will make its final road trip of the regular season, going to Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas Friday at 6 p.m.
