RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas volleyball team tied a school record for blocks in a four-set match with 16 as they defeated East Texas Baptist 26-28, 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 in American Southwest Conference play Friday night at the UTD Activity Center.
The Comets (11-4, 8-1) remain in first place in conference with the victory, while the Tigers fall to 13-4 and 5-4 in league play.
Five Comets recorded four or more blocks - led by senior middle
Karle Lynd who had a career-best eight.
ETBU took the first set after 15 ties and eight lead changes, but UTD rebounded for an easy second set victory 25-12. The host squad pulled away in the third set and ended the match on a high note, hitting a scorching .448 on 15 kills.
For the match, the Comets hit .257 on 53 kills, eight aces, 66 digs and the 16 blocks. The Tigers hit .076 with 44 kills, two aces, 58 digs and five blocks.
UT Dallas Notes
- The Comets tied the four-set mark in blocks that was set on September 11, 2010 against UW-Oshkosh. They were also one off the total match record of 17.
- Lynd also hit a career-best .667 on eight kills and no errors.

Gabi Engels came up with a season-best seven blocks and knocked down 10 kills.

Lauren Johnson tied her season-high with six total blocks.

Madison Ball led the Comets with 12 kills and had a career-high four blocks.

Catherine Croft added 11 kills, two aces and four blocks.

Emma Sevening and
Izzy Sundquist both recorded double-doubles - Sevening with 23 assists, 12 digs and Sundquist with 20 asssists and a career-high 14 digs.
East Texas Baptist Notes
- Avery Reid paced the Tigers with 14 kills.
- Freshman Graycee Mosley had 12 kills and 15 digs.
- Libero Lillie Hill came up with 18 digs.
- Setter Lexi Moody recorded 32 assists and nine digs.
