IRVING, Texas - The UT Dallas men's basketball team defeated Dallas 82-60 in the battle of Division III rivals from in the Metroplex at the Maher Athletic Center Wednesday night.
The Comets (2-1) led the entire game, jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the first 3:19 of the contest. They would extend the lead over the host Crusaders (0-2) by 15 in the first half before taking a 36-26 advantage into the break.
UTD shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the field in the second half and led by as many as 24 late in the game.
For the game, the Comets shot 50.8 percent (32-for-63) overall, 8-of-20 from three-point range and 10-for-15 at the line. They also recorded 31 rebounds, 19 assists, three blocks, 10 steals and 12 turnovers.
Dallas shot 42.2 percent (19-for-45) from the floor, 5-for-17 outside and 17-for-26 in free throws. The Crusaders also had 30 boards, 10 assists, three blocks, five steals and 21 turnovers.
UT Dallas Notes
- Graduate student guard
Kyle Poerschke led the Comets recorded season-highs with 25 points, nine rebounds and four steals. He has led UTD in scoring in all three games.
- Freshman forward
Austin Page tied the program record in field goal percentage, going 7-for-7 off the bench for 16 points. He tied the performances held by Michael Forster in 2019 and Hans Burwitz in 2020.
- Senior guard
Hunter Stevens dished out seven assists and moved into ninth place on the Comets' career list with 225. He also grabbed five boards.
- Sophomore guard
Luke Kiser added 10 points and senior forward
James Curtis had nine with a pair of steals.
- Tagnon Thibaut and
Will Isaac each recorded three assists.Â
Dallas Notes
- Jack Boyle led the Crusaders with a double-double performance of 18 points and 10 rebounds.
- Zac Olmsted put in 11 points.
- Letrell Toussaint posted eight points and eight rebounds.Â
