RICHARDSON, Texas - The UT Dallas men's soccer team had eight players recognized on the 2022 All-American Southwest Conference teams, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Kayson Marriott, Riley O'Donnell, Kane Kidwell and Michael Hesse were selected to the First Team, Nate Patton was on the Second Team, Adrian Solano and Joe Ruedi were named to the Third Team and Aiden Currie was an honorable mention.

Marriottt, a junior defender from Frisco, Texas, scored four goals, including a pair of game-winners, and recorded two assists. He also contributed to four shutouts at center back. 

O'Donnell, a sophomore forward from Allen, Texas, earned All-ASC First Team honors for the second year in a row after being named the 2021 Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league. He led the Comets with eight goals, including three game-winners, and had four assists. 

Kidwell, a junior midfielder from Mansfield, Texas, was second on the team with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. He was also 2-for-2 on penalty kicks. Kidwell was a Second Team selection last year.

Hesse, a sophomore goalkeeper from Pearland, Texas, recorded 46 saves with a 1.49 goals against average. He played all 90 minutes in three shutouts and a half of another.

Patton, a freshman defender from Albuquerque, N.M., played in 16 games with 13 starts in first year with the Comets. He contributed to four shutouts and logged all 90 minutes 10 times.

Solano, a freshman defender from Georgetown, Texas, had two assists and contributed to four shutouts while appearing in every game. He played seven complete games.

Ruedi, a junior forward from Coppell, Texas, posted a goal and an assist in 17 contests. He scored one game-winning goal and took 22 shots.

Currie, a freshman defensive midfielder from Houston, appeared in 18 games and contributed to four shutouts. He also recorded two assists. 

The Comets closed the 2022 season with a 9-6-4 overall record and 4-3-2 mark in conference play. UTD recorded its 25th consecutive winning season and advanced to the semifinals of the ASC Championship Tournament.
