RICHARDSON, TX (02.27.22) - The UT Dallas women's tennis team stretched its winning streak with a dominant 9-0 win over St. Thomas on Sunday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Courts. The victory lifts the Comets to 2-0 on the year.
Samantha Wong and
Elyssa Ducret got the Comets on the board in doubles play with an 8-2 win at the one position. UTD would follow quickly with an 8-3 win by
Suzuka Nishino and Suamya Vedula at the two spot to lock down the doubles. The third sport resulted in a win for the Comets due to a forfeit securing an early 3-0 lead in the match.
Megan Zeng opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0, win over Regina Lopez at No. 5 before Vedula secured the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Alyssa Davila at No. 2.
Nishino (No. 1, 6-2, 6-0), Ducret (No. 3, 6-1, 6-1) and
Rebecca Jackson (No. 4, 6-1, 6-0) each added straight-set victories. The six position resulted in a win for the Comets due to a forfeit which would complete the singles sweep.
The Comets will continue their non-conference slate as they travel to Hardin-Simmons Thursday. Match time is set for 3 p.m. in Abilene.
