RICHARDSON, TX (02.07.22) - The UT Dallas women's basketball team snapped a two-game losing skid Thursday night as the Comets rolled over Concordia Texas, 78-56, in ASC play.
Maddie Edler poured in a career-high 17 points, hitting 5-of-10 three-pointers, as the Comets (11-5, 10-3 ASC) pulled away late in the first half and dominated the final 20 minutes of action in the ASC home game. UTD, currently third in the league standings, will continue its five-game home stand Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. outing against fourth-place Hardin-Simmons.
Edler hit three of her five treys in the opening half as she sparked UTD to a 41-33 lead at the break. The Round Rock product connected on back-to-back long-range shots in the first quarter as the Comets traded blows with CTX early in the contest. Trailing, 31-28, midway through the second,
Michaela Walker drained a three-pointer to ignite a 13-2 run to closed the half and take an eight-point cushion into the locker room.
The Comets then dominated the second half, outscoring CTX, 37-23, over the final two periods. UTD held a 16-point lead, 62-46, after the third and would lead by as many as 29 points late in the contest.
UTD had its best shooting performance over the last 10 outings, finishing the night shooting 46.2 percent (30-of-65) as a team, connecting on seven three-pointers. The Comets out-rebounded CX, 45-37, and forced 18 Tornado turnovers.Â
Paris Kiser finished the game with 14 points while
McKenzie Howard rounded out the Comets in double figures with 12 points.
Blythe Williams led UTD with 11 rebounds while
Jordan Maxwell and
Anna Jefferson-Polk each dished out four assists.
