MARSHALL, TX (03.25.22) - The No. 25-ranked UT Dallas women's tennis team began its run for a fourth straight ASC divisional title Friday with a 9-0 road win over East Texas Baptist to kick off the Comets' East Division slate.
The Comets (5-2, 1-0 ASC East) will continue league play next Saturday, Apr. 2, when they host LeTourneau for a 2 p.m. match at the UTD Tennis Courts.
After storming through doubles play with three quick lop-sided victories, UTD posted six straight-set wins in singles action complete the shutout of the host Tigers.
Suzuka Nishino opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 2 over Jayde Childress. Reigning ASC East Player of the Week
Samantha Wong then secured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-1, win over ETBU's Gabbi Hammerback at No. 1.
Elyssa Ducret added a 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4,
Saumya Vedula earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3,
Rebecca Jackson claimed a 6-2, 6-2, win No. 5 and
Megan Zeng wrapped up singles pay with a 6-1, 6-2, win at No. 6.
