RICHARDSON TX (04.02.22) - The No. 25-ranked UT Dallas women's tennis team returned home Saturday after five-straight road matches to claim a 9-0 win over LeTourneau ASC East Division play.
The Comets (6-2, 2-0 ASC East) gave up just two games in a double sweep of the visiting YellowJackets before snagged six straight-set victories in singles action.
The tandem of
Megan Zeng and
Suzuka Nishino opened doubles play with an 8-0 win at No. 3, quickly followed by an 8-0 win by
Saumya Vedula and
Rebecca Jackson at No. 2. Top-flighted
Samantha Wong and
Elyssa Ducret closed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win.
Jackson was the first Comet to wrap up her singles match, downing LETU's Emma Boulanger, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5. Nishino then propelled UTD to the team victory with a 6-3, 6-0, win over Madison Morris at No. 2. Wong (No. 1, 6-0, 6-0), Vedula (No. 3, 6-0, 6-2), Ducret (No. 4, 6-1, 6-0) and Zeng (No. 6 , 6-0, 6-1) also earned straight-set victories.
The Comets return to action next Saturday, Apr. 9, with a 1 p.m. ASC home match against Belhaven at the UTD Tennis Courts.
